Unlike American Standard and Trane, this is a real two-family comparison. American Standard is built by Trane Technologies. Carrier is built by Carrier Global, which also makes Bryant and Day & Night. We're an American Standard dealer, we install Bryant (Carrier's sister brand), and we service Carrier all over Scottsdale and Arcadia. Both families are reputable. Here's how they differ in ways that matter here.

What actually differs

  • Communicating systems. Both top tiers use their own proprietary thermostats and controls (American Standard's AccuLink, Carrier's Infinity). Once you're in one, the replacement thermostat and some boards stay brand-specific.
  • Parts availability. Both have Phoenix distribution. Common parts (capacitors, contactors, universal motors) are generic either way. Brand-specific boards and ECM motors are usually next-day for both.
  • Warranty. Both offer 10-year registered parts limited warranties on most residential models. Registration within the brand's window matters for both. Check the specific model.
  • Price. It varies by promotion, tier and dealer. Carrier at the top end often prices at a premium in Scottsdale; Bryant is usually the lower-cost way into the Carrier family.

What matters more than the brand

  • Sizing. An oversized system short cycles and leaves humidity behind, whatever the badge.
  • The indoor coil. Matched coil and condenser, correct refrigerant, correct charge.
  • Ducts. A great system on bad ducts underperforms. Ductwork guide.
  • The installer. Labor warranty, permits, and who answers the phone in year three.

Our honest pick

If you're replacing a Carrier with a communicating Infinity system and love it, staying in the Carrier family (or going Bryant Evolution) keeps things simple. If you're on a single- or two-stage system and price matters, get both families quoted. We'll put American Standard and Bryant numbers side by side.
